The big story
Engineer builds the product, then won’t stop talking about it

Hi! I’m Amit
He missed college by two marks, won a national hackathon, was laid off after Diwali and now ships an app 9,000 people open every day. Next, he wants to help a product grow. Out loud.
Pune / Bangalore. For most of his life, Amit Pile did what he was told was the safe thing. He picked science in eleventh standard because everyone said science was the way forward. He prepared for IIT JEE because science meant engineering. When the plan wobbled, he kept going anyway.
It wobbled a lot. He missed the good Pune colleges by two or three marks (02). His first year of college happened on a laptop screen. His first full-time job ended a few months in, when a global layoff swept through Avaya after Diwali 2024 (04).
What happened in between is the story in these pages. A student decided to say yes to everything, found his people in a campus club, helped win the Smart India Hackathon and ran growth for his college’s flagship hackathon. Then he rebuilt a career, from a startup internship to owning a mobile app used by around 9,000 people a day.
Asked why he now wants to work on growth rather than only on code, Pile did not hesitate, which sources confirm he rarely does. “I’ve done a lot on the technical side,” he said. “That’s exactly why I’m so pulled toward the other side now.”
